Born in Oliveira de Azeméis, Eduardo Martins graduated in law from the University of Coimbra (1968). He also holds a postgraduate degree in Company Management and Organisation from the Free University of Brussels (1974) and an MBA from AESE / University of Navarra (1984-1985).
A practicing lawyer since October 1968 and founder of EJM, he was the Human Resources Director of Portuguese Telecommunications from 1978 to 1983 and Chief of Staff to the State Secretary for Communications in the IX Portuguese Government from 1983 to 1985.
From 1985 to 1989, he was the Deputy Director of Portuguese Telecommunications, after which he was Executive Director of TAP Air Portugal, SA from 1989 to 1992, being in charge of Telecommunications and Information Systems, Legal Affairs, Human Resources, Safety and the Incorporation of New Companies, including Air Macau.
He was the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Megasis, SA, a TAP-owned Information Systems company, from 1990 to 1993, and a Member of the Board of Directors of Telesp Participações from 1998 to 2001.
He was the Executive Director of TV Cabo Portugal from 1994 to 1996 and from 1998 to 2001. He was a Member of the Board of Directors of Portugal Telecom, SGPS, SA from 1996 to 2001 and served as a Member of the Board of Directors of Páginas Amarelas, SA from 1997 to 2003.
From 1999 to 2001, he was the Chairman of the Board of Directors and of the Executive Committee of PT Multimédia SGPS, SA. He was also the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Macau Cable TV from 2000 to 2007 and a Member of the Board of Directors of BANCO1.net, the first Electronic Bank in Brazil, led by Unibanco, in 2000 and 2001.
He was a Member of the Board of Directors of CDMI Productions, Inc., a company based in Los Angeles, California, from 2003 to 2008, and he has been a partner and CEO of the international consulting firm EM Consulting since December 2002.

A graduate of the University of Lisbon’s School Law, specialising in public law, he has been practising law since 2002. From 2002 to 2003, he studied in the Master’s programme in Municipal Culture and Training at the University of Lisbon’s Faculty of Humanities.
In 2006, he founded the law firm Umberto Pacheco, A. Faria, J. Vaz, P. Cerqueira & Associados, Sociedade de Advogados, RL and served as its director until 2009. Since 2010, he has been a partner and director of EJM.
From 1994 to 1998 and from 2002 to 2010, he served as a Representative on the Cascais City Council. From 1998 to 2002, he was the Spokesperson and a Member of the Estoril Parish Council, where he also worked as a legal adviser to the Deputy Mayor of Cascais. From 2009 to 2013, he served as a Councillor for the Cascais City Council, where he was in charge of Legal Affairs, Internal Audits, the Covenant of Mayors and International Relations. In terms of the latter two tasks, he distinguished himself in promoting local economic diplomacy by proposing five new twin city covenants with the cities of Bolama, Guinea-Bissau; Ungheni, Moldova; Campinas, Brazil; Sausalito, United States of America; and Karsiyaka, Turkey.
From 2013 to February 2015, he served in public administration as the executive director of the municipal company Cascais Dinâmica, Gestão de Economia, Turismo e Empreendedorismo, EM, SA.
From 1992 to 1994, he was the director of the university newspaper Lex Press, a publication of the Lisbon School of Law’s Academic Association. In addition, he organised humanitarian and cultural projects in several Portuguese-speaking African countries with the University of Lisbon’s School of Law, including Sao Tome and Principe in 1994, Guinea-Bissau in 1995 and Southern, Central and Northern Mozambique between 1996 and 1998.
From 2006 to 2010, he was a member of the Cascais Committee for the Protection of Minors. Since 2010, he has been a board member of the Cascais Volunteer Firefighters Humanitarian Association and he has been an honorary member of the Pro-Bolama Association of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau since 2013.
In 2012, he received a 1st Degree Award from the Government of the Moldovan Republic “in recognition of his contribution and promotion of intercultural ties between the Republic of Moldova and the Portuguese Republic”. In 2013, he was awarded the Ulysses Grant International Prize “for his valuable contribution to the City of Bolama in the Republic of Guinea-Bissau”. That same year, he received the Order of Honour from the Republic of Moldova, an award given by the President of Moldova “in recognition of deep gratitude for his outstanding contribution to the development and consolidation of friendship and cooperation between the Portuguese Republic and the Republic of Moldova and the constant support provided to the Moldovan community in its integration into Portuguese society”.
He is the author of the books “Filhos de África” and “Em Busca do Autarca Perdido”, both published by Macalfa in 2008, and “Tratado Internacional de Cascais”, published by the Cascais City Council in 2013.
He was Vice President of Grupo Desportivo Estoril Praia from 2008 to 2014, and has served as Director of Estoril Praia Futebol SAD since 2011. In 2014, he was elected Chairman of the Board of Grupo Desportivo Estoril Praia.

A graduate in the area of Criminal Sciences and Criminal Law (Lusíada University Faculty of Law, 1995), she studied for her PhD at the University of Salamanca from 1998 to 1999, and has published studies on the Legal Framework of Banking Contracts as Researcher.
She completed a postgraduate course in Banking, Stock Exchange and Insurance Law at the University of Coimbra’s Faculty of Law (2001/2002 academic year), and completed a Mini-MBA – Intensive Management Course at INDEG/ISCTE in 2006.
From 1995 to 2011, she occupied a number of positions at CTT – Correios de Portugal, S.A., including Legal Counsel in the Human Resources Department, Trainer in several training courses, Company Secretary and Advisor to the Board of Directors at CTT Expresso, Advisor to the Board of Directors at CTT, S.A., and Human Resources Director at CTT. She also participated in many corporate restructuring projects and in the creation of a Shared Services Unit for CTT, S.A.
She is a partner and consultant at EM Consulting, an international consulting firm, where she has been responsible for overseeing the legal aspect of projects since September 2011.
She has worked as a lawyer since July 1997 and has been a partner and director of EJM since 2012.
A graduate of the University of Lisbon’s School of Law in 2004, she completed a postgraduate course in International Commercial Law from the same institution (2004/2005).
From 2008 to 2010, she attended the Master’s Programme on Company Law, with a specialisation in Labour Law.
She was the co-founder of NORMA – Associação para a Protecção dos Direitos Civis e Sociais and is the current Secretary to the Board of the Lisbon School of Law Alumni Association.
She was admitted to the Portuguese Bar Association in 2007 and has been an associate lawyer at EJM since April 2009.
